What style of work do you shoot?
We shoot a mixture of reportage and candid style images with traditional group photography to create a complete storybook of your day. We like to blend in, shooting a non-stop story from beginning to end. We find that this type of approach satisfies the wishes of both the happy couple and those more traditional parents. Obviously, flexibility is the key and we can arrange the shoot to your particular needs.
Do you work with an Assistant?
We mostly work together i.e. using 2 cameras. Using 2 “shooters” allows us to capture the very special moments from two different angles providing a more comprehensive record of your day.. For example, during the exchanging of vows when we shoot 2 angles – from beside the couple and from down the aisle. See wedding gallery for example. Working in pairs also helps in organising everything to run smoothly, so we can focus on the photographs and you and your guests can relax.
How many pictures will you take on the day?
There is no limit to the number of picture we will take on the day. Typically, you will receive more than 200 images.
Do you shoot colour or black & white?
We shoot in colour but in addition to this you will also receive a black and white version of every image shot.
What kind of packages and service do you offer?
We offer simple, uncomplicated price structures that allow you to put together individual options & create your own plan, or you can choose one of our inclusive package plan options. Do you shoot digital or film?
We shoot using the latest Canon Professional digital SLR cameras, lens & flash kits. All of our equipment is less than two years old and is replaced every four years or when the market dictates, whichever is sooner.
Is digital storage safe?
Digitals card storage is as safe, if not safer, than film. We shoot onto a number of storage cards during the day to minimise any risk of loss of images. Following the coverage, these cards are backed up onto our computer and, external hard drive and also, backed up to a professional backup service in the U.S..
What happens if you have a camera or equipment failure?
We always carry 2 sets of equipment and have full public liability & indemnity insurance to cover any unforeseen problems.
What happens if you are unable to shoot my wedding say, due to illness or injury?
We have experienced backup photographers available if I unfortunately were to break both my legs the day before your wedding!
Who owns the copyright to the wedding images?
You do. The copyright is included with all of our options and packages to enable you to do as many of your own copies as you wish. Be aware that many photographers retain these rights which means you have to pay extra for additional copies, enlargements etc.
How can I book you for our wedding?
If you would like to book, we are happy to arrange a time when we can discuss your needs for the day. This discussion is a chance to really put together ideas and design the perfect plan for your day. If you are happy with the arrangements you can book your wedding, subject to availability, by paying a deposit of £150. Full payment should be made no later than 2 weeks before the wedding.
How much time is needed for photography?
It depend on the style of photography you choose for your wedding day, this can be a mix of photojournalism recording all the key moments of your day plus some formal portraits that can take as little as 30 minutes to whatever amount of time you want to dedicate to formal portraiture. The choice is completely yours.
How far will you travel?
Most of our work is carried out in Ireland, North and South. However, with the convenience and value of budget airlines and “Travelodge” type accommodation, virtually anywhere! In the vast majority of wedding shoots overnight accommodation is not required.
Do you charge travelling expenses?
Not within Northern Ireland. Elsewhere within the island of Ireland the charge is 30p/mile from the N.I. border
How much extra is it for you to fly to, say, New York or Barcelona?
Usually, not as much as you might think! Since weddings are planned so far in advance, it’s possible to book ahead and lower the cost of travel.
Do you meet up with the bride and groom before the wedding?
At the earliest possible time we meet with the bride and groom to discuss their requirements and the package and style they have selected. During this time we also discuss any special requests for capturing images throughout the day.
Can we select different print sizes?
Yes of course! You can have whatever print size you want. Also remember if your package includes a DVD of images you are free to print as many images as you want for your own personal usage.
Can you make us a web gallery of photographs?
Yes, we make an online web gallery of every wedding. Your family and friends can go online to view and even place a print order from them.
When can we see our images and how long does it take to produce the wedding album?
Your images will be in a private online gallery approximately 2 weeks after the wedding. If your package includes an album, a proof copy will be online two weeks after the wedding with the final album ready for dispatch to you in approximately 6 weeks.
How long have you been a photographer and what training have you received?
I shot my first wedding on film over 25 years ago and since then have built on my experience adding digital to my portfolio. In that time I have had my work published by many publishers including Poolbeg Press, Elsevier, Springer, Wily etc. I have also completed professional advanced training in Wedding and Portait Photography to British Institute of Professional Photographers standards.
Will you be the photographer who covers my wedding on the day?
Yes, we cover all weddings personally and no work is sub-contracted.
How many weddings do you cover in one day?
One! We are only interested in quality not quantity.
Do you have insurance?
Yes. We have both Professional Indemnity and Public Liability insurance. To not have any insurance would be unprofessional and a risk to the client.
Do you have a contract with your clients?
We have a straightforward contract which ensures there is no misunderstanding between the couple and photographer on the agreed terms and conditions.
How long will you be with us on the day?
For the full wedding option we will be with you from the bride’s preparation through to the reception speeches and toasts, which is typically six+ consecutive hours. Should you wish us to stay for the first dance, this can be arranged.
What is covered in these 6+ hours?
For a typical wedding, we would normally cover the following – preparations at the bride’s house, the groom and family at the ceremony beforehand, the guests arriving, the bride arriving, discrete shots of the ceremony (if permitted), the signing of the register, the couple leaving, group shots of the immediate families and a private moment with just the couple, shots at the reception including guests mingling, the cutting of the cake. Should you require it we can also stay for the first dance. All shot with a little creative flair and an eye for the spontaneous moment.
Can we have an engagement shoot as part of our wedding package?
Yes, we offer an engagement shoot with most wedding packages. This can be anywhere from two years (for those early planners) to two weeks before the wedding. Engagement shoots are very useful in allowing the couple and the photographer to get acquainted; this familiarity can help things flow on their big day. We also offer engagement shoots as a stand alone product.
What happens if it rains, will you still be able to get the shots?
Yes. Be assured we will get you good shots no matter what. We review each venue prior to the wedding in order to develop contingency plans in case of bad weather. We carry white umbrellas as part of our standard equipment just in case!
Can you take photographs during the ceremony without flash?
Yes, in most circumstances, however in some cases photography can either be prohibited or severely restricted owing to the lighting in the venue or the solemnity of the occasion. As part of our plans we will discuss your requirements with the officiant prior to the service.
